MALAGA IN THE SUMMER

MALAGA IN THE SUMMER

MALAGA IN THE SUMMER

I had long wanted to visit cities in Andalusia in southern Spain known for its Islamic relics. But instead of visiting Granada or Cordoba, I prefer Malaga are not very well known. Located 100 kilometers east of the Strait of Gibraltar, Malaga stretches along the Costa del Sol located on the southern coast of Spain. Although an industrial city that continues to grow with the densest population in Andalusia, but Malaga while maintaining the traditions and historical heritage.

Colorful City
Visiting Spain feels different compared to other European countries like the Netherlands and Germany, for example. Judging from the architecture and colorful buildings, Spain feels more cheerful and colorful. Houses and flats with terraces latticed into view on the small streets. Among the residential areas, restaurants and cafes tucked away because the food has become an important element in the culture of the people. Known as the people who likes to party, in the summer when strolling in the city in Spain will be heard the strains of Spanish guitar inviting for anyone to hear it come to dance and sing. I found the atmosphere in Malaga also reminds me of a Mexican telenovela.

Malaga temperature in the range of 35-38 degrees Celsius in the summer it makes me a lot of sweat. Cities in southern Spain temperature warmer in the winter, so in the summer even be extra hot weather than any other city in Europe. For me that when it’s been a year studying and living in the Netherlands, the overwhelming because temperatures are familiar with the weather conditions in the Netherlands are often cloudy, windy, and cold. However, this did not dampen the enthusiasm in exploring Malaga.

Lara house located not far from the city center of Malaga. However, to reach the city center, I have often asked the locals because so many confusing intersections. Not too many Spanish people who speak English, but they were still friendly and show the way by gestures and body language.

I do not know Malaga is the hometown of Pablo Picasso to set foot in this city. Malaga society supposedly very proud of it and this is revealed by the presence of the Museo Picasso Malaga in the Palace of Condes de Buenavista, Renaissance-style building decorated with Moorish decorative elements that have been restored. The Picasso Museum is located not far from the cathedral and can be reached by foot.

Roman in Malaga
Located at the foot of the hill Gibralfaro, El Teatro Romano or the Roman Theater is a relic of the oldest in Malaga and had stood since one century BC. Teatro Romano This discovery turned out to be an accident that occurred when building a city park Casa de Cultura in 1951. The process of construction of the park then stopped and the process of excavation immediate and lasts for years. It was only in 2011 the theater was opened to the public, especially to showcase a variety of performances in the summer.

Teatro Romano itself was built under the reign of King Augustus at the theater century BC and it was used for three centuries. After neglected for hundreds of years, the new theater reused when the Moors came and settled in Andalusia. However, instead of re-use as a theater, the remains of this magnificent building is used as an area excavated to build the Alcazaba which was completed in the 11th century. Meanwhile, Teatro Romano are already in ruins even more buried and rediscovered in 1951.
