Ujung Kulon National Park

Ujung Kulon National Park is a wildlife sanctuary for the last Javan rhinoceros (Rhinoceros sondaicus). Ujung Kulon a rhino habitat that currently only about 60 head. Rare animals is difficult to be found because they are among the animals are shy and can only be tracked at night.

Ujung Kulon National Park is a fascinating natural attractions with the beauty and uniqueness of various forms of symptoms. Animals in Ujung Kulon National Park consists of 35 species of mammals, five species of primates, 59 species of reptiles, 22 species of amphibians, 240 species of birds, 72 species of insects, 142 species of fish and 33 species of coral. Endangered and protected animals in addition to the Javan rhinoceros is the banteng (Bos javanicus javanicus), ajag (Cuon alpinus javanicus), Javan (Presbytis comata comata), monkey (Trachypithecus auratus auratus), deer (Cervus timorensis Russa), leopard (Panthera pardus), stone cat (Prionailurus bengalensis javanensis), gibbon (Hylobates moloch), and giant clams (Tridacna gigas).

In the sea surrounding the national parks can be found shells huge, clown fish, angel fish, parrot fish, and fish Mudskipper who love jumping on the mainland muddy and can climb trees, and fish archer fish can jump into the water with a height of more than 2 m to catch insects.

Ujung Kulon National Park along the Krakatau Nature Reserve is a national asset, and has been designated as World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991.

TRANSPORTATION

From Jakarta, you can go Serang by car via the motorway, and to Labuan which takes approximately 1.5 hours. Ujung Kulon can be reached by speedboat charter from Labuan to Peucang which takes 5 hours. Or you can also use the car for 3.5 hours from Labuan to Tamanjaya.

Some travel companies in Jakarta provide a direct trip to Krakatau and Ujung Kulon.
